Maddie Nixon
MSc MBACP (Accred)

There are times in our lives when any of us can feel unable to cope

Problems arise and we need help and space to think through ways of moving forward or sorting out events.

It may be painful memories from the past, events in the present or worries about the future.  Whatever the issues therapy can help you explore your thoughts and feelings and help facilitate change to how you think, feel and behave.  I provide a safe, non-judgemental and confidential environment where you can work through the problems you are experiencing.

I am available both online and in-person. A little about me...

I am a trauma specialist, but am trained in many areas of therapy, such as; anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, trauma, abuse, bereavement, grief and loss, anger, etc., and I am happy to work on an individual basis in either short or long term therapy.  I believe counselling is led by the client and I will tailor my approach to your individual needs.

Specialising In The Following

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR is primarily used to treat individuals who have experienced traumatic events. The goal of the treatment is often to relieve the debilitating symptoms the individual is experiencing. The ultimate aim is to enhance the individual's ability to love both self and others and to engender a new joy in living, in addition to banishing overt suffering (Francine Shapiro).

Trauma-focused cognitive behavioural therapy (TF-CBT)

TF-CBT is a type of therapy that is specifically designed to help individuals who have experienced trauma. It combines elements of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) with trauma-focused techniques to address the psychological and emotional effects of trauma.

Clinical Supervision

Clinical supervision plays a vital role in ensuring the ongoing professional growth, competence, and ethical practice of professionals in the mental health field. I provide a supportive, educational, safe environment for supervisees to enhance their skills, gain new perspectives, and ultimately improve the quality of care they provide to their clients. I provide supervision for individuals and groups, both privately, for the NHS and other agencies.
